Michal Snunit was born in Israel in 1940, on a kibbutz that had been founded by her parents. Later, at Tel Aviv University, she studied Hebrew Theatre and Literature, and went on to become a journalist on a daily newspaper and the editor of a weekly magazine.

She also wrote books for children, as well as poems for both adults and children, and lyrics for young people’s musicals. Her international bestseller, The Soul Bird, which has sold over 1 million copies and been translated into 25 languages, is an exploration of the relationship between the self and the soul, told in a beautifully simple and appealing style.
